ML-WR Boys Bounce Back With 17-14 Victory

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels rebounded Tuesday afternoon after falling to Proctor last Friday to pick up the 17-14 win over Cook County and move to 1-1 on the season. The Rebels pounded out 12 hits Tuesday afternoon as the Rebels won this Polar League Conference contest.


Senior Trevor Nummela went 3-3 on the afternoon, nearly hitting for the cycle as the connected on a home run, a triple and a double; he also scored four runs in the Rebels win. Nummela had two additional plate appearances, but in those two at bats he was hit by a pitched and walked. Nummela led the Rebels with 6 runs batted in.


Nathan VanZee added two hits in the Rebels victory; he also scored four runs while knocking in two for Moose Lake-Willow River. Spencer Clough added two hits including a home run and he also scored three runs.


Nick Tokar was the starting pitcher, but he gave way to Ryan Adamczak and then it was BJ Young who was the winning pitcher for the Rebels at home. Moose Lake-Willow River has now scored 24 runs in two games on this early season.


The Rebels are in action again on Thursday when they will take on the Two Harbors Agates, up the shore in Two Harbors. The Rebels will be back home on Friday when the host Eveleth-Gilbert in a non-conference contest.
