Thunder’s Muehlberger Named Player of the Week

CLOQUET, MN– Lisa Muehlberger, sophomore infielder for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder softball team, was named Co-Player of the Week in the Northern Division of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference for games played March 21 through March 27.


Muehlberger batted 7-for-9 and had four runs batted in games against Hibbing Community College, Vermilion Community College and Itasca Community College. Her batting average was .777 for the week, and she also fielded 15 chances at third base without an error. Lisa Muehlberger is a graduate of Duluth Central High School. Muehlberger shared co-Player of the Week with Angie Muhvich of Ely, Minnesota, who plays at Vermilion Community College.


Muehlberger, one of three team captains, is the first Thunder player to earn Northern Division Player of the Week honors during the 2011 season. Muehlberger also earned Player of the Week honors during the 2010 season.


The 2011 Thunder softball team opened the season last week with three games inside the Irish Dome in Rosemount, MN. The team went 1-2 for the week.


Notable performances last week by Thunder team members include:

– Anna Engelmeier (Hermantown) 6 for 11 (.545 avg.) batting and two stolen bases

– Casey Pierce (McGregor) 4 for 10 (.400 avg.) batting and one stolen base

– Holly Nelson (Carlton) four RBIs and 30 put-outs at first base


The Minnesota Community College Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The softball conference includes 15 teams which are divided geographically into Northern and Southern Divisions.
