Barnum Bomber head baseball coach Dave Duesler knows every game going down the stretch is very important. With regular season play wrapping up next week, Duesler knew his team needed to get hot over the last few games of the season so the Bombers can improve their seeding standings when the section 5A seedings are announced next week. The Bombers helped their chances by defeating the Floodwood Polar Bears in the bottom of the seventh with a two run walk off home run by Frankie Barrios. That homerun gave the Bombers an 8-7 win in 8 innings.

With the game tied going into the top of the eighth inning, Floodwood scored one run to take a 7-6 lead going into the bottom of the eighth. The Bombers would then make things dramatic. With two outs, Justin Newman singles to left, bringing up Barrios and with a 3-2 count Barrios hammed the game winning Homerun to give the Bombers the Polar League win.

Barrios would finish the game going 3-5 with 4 RBIs, Kyle Duesler continued hammering the ball for the Bombers going 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a walk. Justin Newman finished 2-3 with an RBI, Erik Johnson and Brody Peterson both would go 2-4 in the Barnum win. Barrios also pitched 8 innings and got the win from the mound.

Barnum now improves their record to 9-7 on the season and is in action again on Monday as they play Duluth Marshall at home. Floodwood falls to 5-9 on the season and will face Esko on Friday afternoon. Barnum will play Moose Lake Willow River on Tuesday at Moose Lake. That game will be broadcasted on WMOZ 106.9 fm.
