Hawks Fall in Semi Finals

After throwing a no-hitter in her first game, Maddie Damon followed it up with a one-hit shutout, striking out 13 while walking just one in Kasson-Mantorville’s 4-0 win over Hermantown in a Class AA semifinal game.

Through Kasson-Mantorville’s first two games, Damon has struck out 27, while walking just two and allowing just one hit. Plus, she helped her own cause in her second win, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to center field.

Kasson-Mantorville scored three runs in the second inning, with two coming across on a triple to right by MiKayla Grant, and the other coming across on an RBI single by McKenzie Hemann.

Hermantown’s lone hit came in the seventh inning, as Jordyn Thomas hit a single in the top of the seventh.

Brenna Thomas took the loss and follows in Komets three run second inning, Thomas retired 13 straight batters in the loss.

 

The Hawks will face New Ulm in the third place game at 11 am at Caswell Park today.
