The Barnum Boys baseball team rebounded Wednesday with a win over the Hill City Hornets by a score of 9-8. This was a big rebounding win because of the Polar League loss to Esko on Tuesday afternoon.

“We had a good win today,” head coach Dave Duesler told Northland Sports Online. “We took a nice lead but couldn’t hold it and we fought back to win it in the top of the seventh inning.” The Bombers led 7-2 after three innings, but Hill City scored six runs in the fifth inning to take the lead at 8-7. Barnum did not quit as they fought back and scored two runs in the top of the seventh to win by one.

Kyle Duesler led the Bombers from the plate, going 3-3 with two doubles.
Josh Hogan was 2-2, along with Cody Hagenbeck who was also 2-2 with 2 RBIs. Erik Johnson was 2-5 with a double and Frankie Barrios finished 2-5 with an RBI. Hagenbeck was the winning pitcher for the Bombers as he pitched the final two and one third innings. Justin Newman started the game for the Bombers. Newman had three strikeouts and gave up five runs, three of which were earned. Hagenbeck struck out two in the final two innings.

With the win, the Bombers move to 8-7 on the season and will play Floodwood at home on Thursday. Hill City falls to 4-14 on the season and
are in action again next Tuesday when they finish their regular season at home against Chisholm.
