Duluth East Sweeps Grand Rapids

The Duluth East Greyhounds swept the Grand Rapid Thunderhawks in boys tennis Tuesday night.

Elliot Schneider kicked off the night for the Greyhounds, defeating Gus Fedji-Johnson in 3 sets, dropping the first one 7-5, then winning the next two 6-4 and 10-8. Ryan Aturaylia would get the next victory for the Greyhounds, beating Ian Pallin 6-3 and 8-6. Luke Hietala kept the streak rolling, beating Jace Wagner 6-1 and 6-0. E.J Hietala followed by topping Alex Wooner 6-2 and 6-1.

In doubles action, the team of Mark Holliday and Martin Schneider defeated their opponents 6-1 and 6-4. Derek Boese and Luke Dow followed, topping Drake Anderson and Isaac Hemila 6-1 and 6-0, and Nolan Humphreys and Lucas DeAvelar defeated Austin Tatter and Connor Steffan 6-1 and 6-4.

The Greyhounds will have their next match against the Cloquet Lumberjacks on April 20th.
