The Hermantown Hawks used a balanced scoring night with five players in double figures as the Hawks defeated the Rails by a final score of 82-39. The win ended a two game losing streak for the Hawks; the Hawks fell to Hibbing on Tuesday night which dropped them into third in the section standings. The win however combined with a Hibbing loss Friday night gives Hermantown a shot at finishing second in the section if the win on Monday night against Duluth Central.

“We haven’t been passing the ball very well lately” Head Coach Michael Pothast told Northland Sports Online. “Tonight I thought we did a good job of moving the ball around and working out the good shots.” Pothast mentioned “we haven’t been full strength since the Christmas tournament, so it’s nice to get all the kids back and healthy.”

The Hawks continue to improve yearly as the Hawks picked up their 14th win of the season, as they improve from 13 last season, 6 wins two years ago and only one win 2008. The Hawks have a chance at their 15th win on Monday against the Trojans. Hermantown fell in their first meeting of the season by a score of 75-68.
