The Braham Bombers overcame a late Barnum lead to knock off the Barnum Bombers Tuesday night 60-49. In a rematch of last year’s epic battle it was Braham coming from behind to come away with an eleven point win in a battle between two of the state’s best smaller schools over the past several seasons.

It was Braham and Barnum fighting to a close game at halftime with Braham leading by one point 24-23 at the break. Barnum came back strong to start the second half, taking and holding the lead until five minutes to play in the game. Barnum then lost the lead and Braham would go on a run to close out the game with an eleven point win.

“We had a lead deep into the game and our effort was very good.” Head coach Randy Myhre told Northland Sports Online. “Braham is one of the best, if not the best AA school in the state.” Myhre went on to add, “They have an outstanding basketball team, and in the end, we just ran out of gas.”

Barnum was led by Jessica Newman, who finished with 18 points on the night, Claire Rodgers added 10, Katie Myhre finished with 8, Claudia Turner and Daron Mainville each added 4, Caitlyn Rodgers added 3, and it was Jaiden Cofield finishing the Bomber scoring with 2.

Braham was led by sophomore guard Rebecca Dahlman who finished with 29 points on the night. Liz Anderson added 12, Kelsey Giffrow-Sorenson added 7, Katie Nickles contributed with 5, Hannah Dahlman chipped in with 4, and it was Austin Eng closing the scoring with 3 points on the night.

Barnum falls to 22-3 on the season and they will be in action again on Friday when they host Cook County in a Polar League contest. Braham improves to 23-2 and they close out their regular season on Thursday night in a game against Hinckley-Finlayson.
