The Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers knocked off the Wrenshall Wrens on Monday night as the Wrens were still seeking their first win of the season. The Hilltoppers had four players in double figures in a balanced scoring attack which led to the Marshall victory.


The Wrens were seeking to pull off their first win of the season but a balanced attack led the Hilltoppers to the win. Marshall committed twelve fewer turnovers on the game and out-rebounded the Wrens which assisted in the road win.


The Wrens shot well from the outside on the night, making fourteen three-pointers in the loss. Brett Johnson and Jack Dolter each hit five three pointers for Wrenshall while teammate Pat Gustafson hit three in the loss.


Brett Johnson paced the Wrens with 25 points on the night to lead all scorers, Jack Dolter added 15, Pat Gustafson finished with 9, Derek Duncan added 7, and it was Mitch Frank chipping in with 4 points to round out the Wrenshall scoring.


Matt Goldschmidt finished with 15 points on the night to lead Marshall; Eric Miklauch added 14, Aaron Dunphy and Bryce Carlson both poured in 13, John Fox and Ian Zenner each added 6, and Adam Kneepkens finished the Marshal scoring with 5 points in the win.


Wrenshall stays winless at 0-20 and they finish up their regular season on Tuesday Mar 1 against Hinckley-Finlayson. The game location has been moved to Hinckley-Finlayson. The Marshall Hilltoppers improve to 9-14 overall on the season and they will host the Cloquet Lumberjacks on Tuesday night in a Lake Superior Conference battle.
