Thunder Fall To Hibbing Community College 77-66

CLOQUET – The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder men’s basketball team lost 77-66 at home to the Hibbing Community College Cardinals on Wednesday evening.

Hibbing jumped out quickly, leading by as many as 24 points at 39-15 in the first half before the Thunder scrapped their way back into the game, pulling within five points late in the game.

Hibbing guard Phillip Freeman led all scorers with 35 points, and teammate Orlando Edwards, Jr. added 24 points and 14 rebounds. Leading the Thunder was forward Dustin Christjohn with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Christjohn made 10 of 12 field goal attempts and also had three blocked shots.

Thunder forward Tyler Campbell had 16 points, and guard Carlos Holcey added 10 points. The Thunder were without starting point guard Justin Roberts who was out sick for the game.

The Thunder fall to 3-16 on the season, Hibbing improves to 9-16. The final game of the season for the Thunder is on the road this Saturday at Rainy River Community College in International Falls, tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
