Cloquet & Duluth East Split Double Header

The Cloquet Lumberjacks and Duluth East Greyhounds participated in a double header on Tuesday night with the girls taking on one another before the boys game.

The Lady Jacks would fall to the Greyhounds, 51-39. The Hounds led by 26-22 at the half and continued their ways as they would play stifling defense in the second half, outscoring the Jacks 25-17 to secure the win.

Hannah Johnson led the way for the Greyhounds, scoring 14 points in the win. Danielle Cieluch and Liz Libbon would follow, scoring 10 each. Rachel Weyenberg would pitch in 8 points and Veronica Rudolph, Jada Olson, and Ashley Williams would round it out with 3 points each.

In the loss, Kassidy Steen would score a game high 15 points. Kendra Kelley and Anna Fossen followed with 7 each and Hazel Erickson and Kaylee McMillen topped it off with 5 points each.

In the boys matchup, the Lumberjacks would find a way to win, downing the Greyhounds 63-53. The Jacks led 23-19 at the half and would go on to outscore the Greyhounds 40-34 in the second half to secure the victory.

Nate Weets led the way for the Jacks, scoring 20 in the win. Brandon Hill followed with 15 points, all coming from beyond the arch, and Zach Gerlach would hit double digits with 10 points. Mason Brenner added 8 points in the win, Jeroam Defoe pitched in 4, and Brady Boeidzinski, Rand Bieri, and Jeremy Bushey rounded it out with 2 each.

In the loss for the Greyhounds, Joey Zwak notched 20 points, followed by Sam Thompson with 12 and Ty Seymour with 10. Will Heyer added 7 in the loss, while Quentin Miller and Aaron Maslowski rounded it out with 2 points a piece.

The Lady Jacks dropped to 10-13 on the year and will play the Proctor Rails on the road on February 19th. The Greyhounds improved to 11-13 on the season and will travel to play Becker on February 19th.

On the boys side, the Lumberjacks move to 15-9 and will look for another win on February 19th when they travel to play the Proctor Rails. The Greyhounds dropped to 14-11 with the loss and will play their season finale on February 20th against Mounds View at home.
