Esko Girls Lose On Buzzer Beating 3-Pointer

The Esko Eskomos dropped their second straight game for the first time this season as it was the Crosby-Ironton Rangers knocking off the Eskomos by a final score of 54-53. A near half court shot from Jana Anderson that went through the net as time expired allowing the Rangers to pull off the road win on the last second three-pointer.


The loss, the second in a row for the Eskomos is not a common event as the Eskomos had played sixty-one games without losing two consecutive games. The last time that had happed was back in 2009 when Esko dropped a pair of back to back games against Barnum and Grand Rapids.

This game was tight throughout with the Rangers leading at halftime by a score of 28-24. Esko battled back and took the lead late in the game before the Anderson heroics. Anderson and her teammate Chelsey Bonsante connected on twelve three-pointers in the Crosby-Ironton victory.


Esko was led in scoring on the night by Keely Deadrick, who finished with 18 points on the night. Marisa Shady added 14 including three 3-pointers, Bailey Mudek finished with 9 points all coming on three-pointers, Lydia Pelletier added 5, Savanna Trapp finished with 4 points, and Megan Reuer closed out the Eskomos scoring with 4 points on the night.


Anderson finished with 24 points on the night for the Rangers, sophomore guard Bonsante added 22, and Missy Foote added 4 points, September Prushek and Shannon Lundgren rounded out the scoring for Crosby-Ironton with 2 points each on the night.


The Eskomos fall to 18-2 on the season and they have a quick turnaround as they are in action again on Friday night hosting Silver Bay in a Polar League contest. It is also pie night at Esko High School, following the game spectators and fans are able to shoot to win a pie. All Proceeds go to the Esko Hoops Club.


The Rangers of Crosby-Ironton improve to 15-6 on the season. They are also back in action Friday night when they travel to Wadena to face the Wolverines of Wadena-Deer Creek in a non-conference contest.
