Barnum Bests Carlton 79-39 at Home

BARNUM- On Monday the Bombers avenged an early season loss to Floodwood, and on Tuesday they continued with their hot shooting as the Bombers took down the Bulldogs of Carlton at home. The Bombers knock off the Bulldogs for the second time this season as they win by 40 with a final score of 79-39.


The Bombers came out strong Tuesday and Josh Hogan had another outstanding night, finishing with 22 points to lead all scorers. Hogan had 31 points Monday night against the Polar Bears. The Bombers finished with a total of nine three-pointers on the night, their best shooting performance from the outside this season.


Barnum jumped out to a 22 point first half lead at 45-23. The second half saw the Bombers continue with their hot shooting and great defense allowing Carlton only sixteen second half points on the night. The Bulldogs did a much better job Tuesday than in their first meeting on the year when they finished with only seventeen points for the game.


The Bombers were led in scoring by Hogan’s 22 points, Danny Warpula finished with 14, Bobby Minkkinen and Justin Newman each had 10, Brandon Newman finished with 8, Andrew Youngren chipped in with 6, Jake Golan added 5, Sam Anderson, Luke Chalberg, and Brandon King all ended with 2 points each in the Bomber victory. Justin Newman, Hogan, and Brandon Newman all hit two three-pointers for Barnum.


The Bulldogs were led by Erik Adams who scored 14 points for Carlton, Dekota Freer and Matt Lund both added 6, Kodie Peterson added 5, Lane Empson chipped in with 4, Nick Vacura and Kyle Gunderson each added 2 points in the loss for Carlton.


Barnum improves to 15-5 on the season and they have another Polar League contest Friday night at Cromwell. The Bulldogs are also back in action on Friday when they will face the Two Harbors Agates in a Polar League Conference game as well, in Two Harbors.
