Cromwell Comeback Denies Wrenshall’s First Win

The Wrenshall Wrens found themselves in a very different situation on Tuesday and that was leading at halftime in their game against the Cromwell Cardinals. With Wrenshall leading 23-21 at the break it was a Cromwell comeback that shot down the Wrens for their first win of the season.


With the Cardinals trailing by two points, the Cardinals took over quickly in the second half as they outscored the Wrens 28-13 in the second half as they go on to win by thirteen. Cromwell used the inside game, feeding the ball inside to Jake Ramberg, which counteracted the hot outside shooting of Brett Johnson from Wrenshall in the first half.


Ramberg finished the night with 20 points overall for Cromwell. Nick Cahoon added 11, Jordan Suhonen finished with 9 including two three-pointers, Pat Dahl scored 7 in the win, and it was Mike Hedin rounding out the Cromwell scoring with 2 points.


Brett Johnson paced the Wrens as he finished with a game high 21 points on the night including four three-pointers in the loss. The rest of the Wrenshall scoring consisted of Matt O’Connor with 6 points, Derek Duncan 4, Pat Gustafson 3, Jack Dolter and Mitch Frank each finished with 1 point in the loss.


The Wrenshall Wrens fall to 0-14 on the season and they fall to 0-11 in conference play. Wrenshall will be in action again on Friday night when the face the Carlton Bulldogs in another Polar League Conference match-up. Cromwell improves to 6-10 on the season 5-6 in conference play. The Cardinals are off until next Tuesday when they host Northland.
