A four goal barrage in the second period by Grand Rapids helped to lead the Thunderhawks to a 6-0 win over visiting Cloquet-Esko-Carlton in boys hockey on Tuesday night.

After Mitchell Mattson gave Grand Rapids a 1-0 lead with a late goal in the first period the Thunderhawks stormed the CEC net and rammed home four goals in the second period. Jonah Bischoff, who scored a pair of goals, picked up his first tally just 2:16 into the second period on a power play giving the Thunderhawks a 2-0 lead.

That was followed by another goal by Bischoff at 8:41, then it was Alex Adams scoring at 10:42 on the power play followed by Eric Soderberg at the 11:00 minute marking making the score 5-0.

The Thunderhawks put the game into running time at 2:26 of the final period when Connor LaRoque scored making it 6-0.

For the game the Thunderhawks put 27 shots on CEC goalie Eric Newman who finished with 21 saves, while CEC put 19 shots on Sam Gerth who finished with the shutout in the nets.
