The Grand Rapids Thunderhawks picked up its first win over Duluth East since 2007. The Thunderhawks were led by a pair of goals from Alex Adams and 26 saves from Sam Gerth.

Adams scored the games first goal just 22 seconds into the contest to give the Thunderhawks a 1-0 lead. Grand Rapids made it 2-0 later in the first period when Jack Dunnell scored at 11:52 mark.

Drake Anderson scored the only goal of the second period for the Thunderhawks as they would lead 3-0 after two periods of play. East’s lone goal came from Bryton Lutzka in the third period which cut the lead to 3-1 with Luke Dow getting the lone assist.

Jonah Bischoff then gave the Thunderhawks a 4-1 lead before Adams capped off the scoring with his second goal of the contest.

The Greyhounds out shot the Thunderhawks 28-17 but could not come back from the fast start by Grand Rapids. Kirk Meirhoff stopped 13 of the 17 shots he faced for the Greyhounds.
