CEC Girls Move into Championship

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks moved into the championship game of the Cardinal Cup Tuesday with a 2-1 victory over Totino Grace by a score of 2-1 in an outdoor game.

It was a scoreless contest until the second period when  period Totino Grace took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Grace Hedges.  Makayla Langenbrunner scored at 2:52 of the period to tie the game at 1-1, and it was Kayla Baker who gave the Jacks a lead at 15:53 when she scored and the assist coming to Lexi Robideaux.

Sydnee Heitala stopped 25 of 26 shots on goal as the Jacks advance to the title game. The Lumberjacks had to comeback in the same manner on Monday when again they would score two third period goals after trailing by a 1-0 score. Courtney Ketola scored the game tying goal and Langenbrunner scored the game winning goal for the Jacks. Stacey Nelson was the winning goaltender Monday as the Lumberjacks beat Rogers by a score of 2-1.
