The Carlton Bulldogs comeback fell short Tuesday night as Fond du Lac held on to defeat the Bulldogs by a final score of 72-62 at Carlton High School. The Bulldogs were looking to make it two wins in a row, and were also looking to pick up their fourth win over the last five games.

“We had chances down the stretch,” Head Coach Carl Grussendorf told Northland Sports Online. “We had cut the lead down to six points, but we then had three straight possessions where we didn’t score.” Grussendorf added “when we didn’t score they did, and they are a very talented group of kids.”

The Bulldogs trailed by twelve points at halftime 36-24, and then made a late run in the second half but were unable to capitalize when they had the chance. The Ogichida scored three baskets down the stretch to ensure the win for Fond du Lac as they win this game by ten points on the road.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Matt Lund who scored 22 points in the loss. Erik Adams added 12, Dekota Freer, Tyler Peterson, and Nick Vacura all added 6, Kodie Peterson had 4, Lane Empson, Kyle Gunderson, and Marc Shoberg all finished with 2 points in the Bulldog loss Tuesday night.

Fond du Lac Ojibwe was led by Kello Brown, who finished with a game high 24 points on the night. Trevor Brown added 23 including six three-pointers, Travis Brown finished with 12, Scott Abramowski punched in 7, and Bruce Martineau added 6 points in the victory.

With the win, Fond du Lac improves to 5-11 on the season. They are in action again on Friday night when they travel to Chisholm to take on the Bluestreaks in a section match-up. Carlton will be on the road also on Friday when they go up to Floodwood to take on the Polar Bears in a Polar League battle. The Bulldogs are also home on Saturday afternoon when they will host Ogilvie as part of a boys girls double header.
