MOORHEAD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women’s basketball team lost to Concordia-Moorhead by a final score of 65-37 Monday night. This 37 point performance is the team’s low total score of the season.

The game started out very competitively for the first 13 minutes with CSS only trailing by five points after a Sammy Doucette (Colfax, Wis./Colfax HS (UW-River Falls)) 3-point basket. That basket made the score 17-12 in favor of Concordia with 7:34 to go in the first half.

It was then that the Cobbers rattled off a 14-2 scoring run that buried the Saints in a 17 point deficit that they just could not climb out of. CSS would make just one bucket and two free throws en route to a halftime score of Concrdia 31 CSS 16.

The second half started off with another 14-2 run for the Cobbers that set the score at 45-18 with 13:38 still to go in the game.

The Saints could never really get the momentum going for a comeback as it seemed like almost every time they would score Concordia had an answer as the rest of the game played out to a 65-37 loss for the Saints.

Other scorers for CSS include Danica Schellbach (Rush City, Minn./Rush City HS) and Brittani Brennan (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) who had six points each.

CSS (0-4, 0-0 UMAC) will next be in action this Saturday when they travel to Hancock, Michigan to take on Finlandia with that game set to tip-off at 2 p.m. (ET). Catch all the exciting Saints basketball action all season live at Saints Sports Net.
