Malec Leads Rails to Win

Jake Malec scored the game winning goal Friday night as the Proctor Rails knocked off Lake of the Woods by a score of 3-2. Malec’s goal came with 1:01 remaining in the third period as the Rails picked up the non conference victory.

Jordan Linder and Gus Abrahamson scored second period goals for the Rails and it was Dylan Pionk assisting on both Proctor Goals. The Rails led 2-1 after two periods but the game was tied up at 2-2 when the Bears tied the game early in the third period before Malec scored the game winner.

Matt Johnson stopped 17-19 shots he faced for the won in nets for the Rails. The Rails were looking to make it a weekend sweep Saturday, but the Broncos of International Falls beat the Rails by a final score of 4-3 in overtime as the Rails fall to 2-3 on the season.

Proctor will host Greenway Nashwauk-Keewatain on Tuesday night at the Proctor Ice Arena, then Friday the will travel to Pine City to play the Dragons.
