It was announced earlier this week that the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall girls hockey team will lose Marshall as part of the cooperative program beginning next year. Duluth Marshall, which contributes four players to the team this season, will have only one player from their ranks on the team next season. The school felt it is hard to justify paying the fee for the cooperative when only one student/athlete is affected.

If anyone thought the announcement would be a distraction they were sadly mistaken as the Mirage tossed 45 shots on Hibbing/Chisholm goalie Dory Johnson, en-route to a 3-1 win.

H/C scored the game’s first goal at 3:24 of the first period when Jackie Kepler rammed home a tally. Less than a minute later the Mirage responded with a goal by Melinda Nelson with Reilly Fawcett and Justina Lindberg picking up assists. The first period ended with the game even at 1-1.

Lindberg scored the only goal of the second period at 8:07 with Alyssa Wargin and Emy Albert assisting.

The lone goal of the third period came on a power play when Emma Stauber cashed in on a pass from Lindberg at 3:13.

For the game the Mirage outshot the Blue Jackets 45-18 including a 14-3 margin in the opening frame.
