A stifling defense by Esko helped to propel the Eskomos to a convincing 48-24 win over the Hermantown Hawks in girls high school basketball on Thursday night.

The Eskomos held the Hawks offense down all game long, but they were particularly effective in the first half when Esko built a 19-10 halftime edge.

Mandi Dincau led the Esko offense with 13 points and Ava Gonsorowski finished with 11 points. Bailey Mudek chipped in with six points and Molly Trapp recorded five points, Mac Holland added four points, it was three points for Arianna Murto, while Ashley Bergerson, Kailee Kiminski, and Selena Shady both finished with a pair of points.

Mariah Ruhanen, Jordyn Thomas and Shaina Bolen all scored six points for the Hawks while Kianna Hren and Laura Lenard both recorded three points for Hermantown.
