Ashton Altmann scored a power-play goal with 18 seconds remaining in regulation play to lift Duluth East to a 4-3, come-from-behind victory over Superior in a high school boys hockey game Thursday night at Duluth Heritage Sports Center.

The Greyhounds trailed the Spartans 3-2 after two periods, and Reid Hill and Altmann scored goals in the third period to avoid a major early-season upset and an 0-2 start to the season.

Shay Donovan and Nick Altmann scored even-strength goals to give the Greyhounds a 2-0 lead after one period, but the Spartans ralled with second period even-strength goals by Troy Schold, Beau Reder and Braden LaPorte.

Howg260Duluth East senior goaltender Gunnar Howg finished with 18 saves, on 21 shots, and Peyton Flanders had 28 stops for Superior (1-3).

The Greyhound out-shot the Spartans 10-1 in the third period.
