CLOQUET – The Cloquet girls basketball team picked up their fifth win of the season on Friday night in convincing fashion. Strong underneath play helped the Jacks pick up the 59-45 home win over Proctor.

Cloquet broke open an 11-11 tie with strong inside play from Annabel Morrisroe and Kenzie Rathe. Morrisroe picked up 16 of her 20 points in the first half. Rathe dropped 9 of her 14 points in the first half also which helped the Jacks take a 37-23 lead into the locker room at the half.

In a game that was filled with turnovers, Cloquet managed to turn that aspect of the game into a positive. Cloquet committed 23 turnovers and Proctor added 29. However, the Jacks were able to convert those 29 turnovers into 27 points while Proctor managed just 11 points off turnovers.

As mentioned, Morrisroe and Rathe hit double figures for Cloquet, Morrisroe with 20 and Rathe with 14. Others helping the Lumberjack cause were Krista Schmitz with 7, Carrie Zeadow and Sarah McMillen with 5 points each, and Felicia Hraban with four.
