Northland Girls Basketball Preview

With basketball season getting underway, Northland Sports Online would like to look into the local area teams.

In Section 7A, the Cromwell Cardinals will look to get to the Section Finals after going 16-10 last season and making it to the final four of the section. The Cardinals open their season up against the Barnum Bombers on December 6th.

Also in 7A is the McGregor Mercuries who went 23-5, will also look for a Section Finals appearance after falling in the final four. The Mercuries open their season up on December 1st against Nashwauk-Keewatin.

The South Ridge Panthers look to have another winning season after going 14-13 a year ago. They will open their season up against Northeast Range on December 8th.

The Floodwood Polar Bears, who went 15-12 last season, will look to improve on that this season. They will face off with Barnum on December 1st and will have their first home game on December 4th against Wrenshall.

The Carlton Bulldogs, who went 6-19 last season, have a new head coach, Andrew Weber, who will look to improve on that record. They open their season up on December 9th against Cook County.

In Section 7AA, the Esko Eskomos will look for another Section title after going 27-6 and placing 3rd at State. They will open their season against International Falls on December 1st.

Also in 7AA, the section runners-up, the Barnum Bombers, who went 19-9 a year ago, will look to add another state appearance to their schools history. They open their season up against the Floodwood Polar Bears on December 1st.

In Section 7AAA, the Hermantown Hawks will look for a section finals appearance after going 17-10 last season. They will open their season up on December 4th against the Esko Eskomos.

Also in 7AAA, the Cloquet Lumberjacks will look to improve on their 14-12 record from last year. They open their season up on December 13th against Crosby-Ironton.

In 7AAAA, the Duluth East Greyhounds will look for an improvement on last seasons 10-16 record. They will begin their season on November 29th against Blaine.
