Kaitlyn Greene had a busy night in nets for the Moose Lake Area girls hockey team, but she did plenty enough to help her team skate to an impressive 4-3 win over Cambridge/Isanti on Thursday night. The Rebels slipped away with a win and Greene stood up to a 50 shot barrage by making 47 saves and giving her team the victory.

CI took a 1-0 lead at the 7:46 mark of the first period off a goal by Taylor Bowker. Jackie Granfors tied the game for the Rebels at 13:05 of the same period with an unassisted goal, but that didn’t last long as Alex Nelson gave the Blue Jackets the lead back before the end of the period with a tally at 14:29.

The Rebels responded with a trio of goals in the second period with the first one coming at 5:29 from Granfors with an assist to Emilee Franklin. Barely over a minute later was it Franklin scoring with Georgia Ryan assisting on a pretty power play goal. Then, at 9:54, the Rebels went ahead 4-2 when Maggie Unzen scored with Erin Mollberg checking in with an assist. Before the period ended the Blue Jackets added a second goal by Bowker, this time on the power play, which cut the lead to 4-3. Bowker’s goal was the final goal of the game for each team.

The big story for the Rebels was their ability to create just enough offense, while Greene thwarted numerous good scoring chances for CI.

For the game the Rebels were outshot 50-29, but still picked up an important and impressive road win.
