Wilderness Drop Fourth Straight

The Minnesota Wilderness dropped their fourth consecutive contest Wednesday night at Northwoods Credit Union by a score of 4-3 to the Minnesota Magicians as it was Lukas Laub scoring the game winning goal with a little over seven minutes remaining in the third period.

The Wilderness who never led Wednesday night saw the Magicians score the first periods lone goal, to take a 1-0 lead after one period. Nathan Krusko who scored his second goal of the game put the Magicians in front 2-0 before Darian Romanko cut the lead to 2-1 at the 5:01 mark of the second period.

Brett Heikkala tied the contest ten minutes later when he took a pass from Isak Berglund and beat goaltender Cole Weaver to make it a 2-2 game. Kane Durment gave the Magicians a 3-2 lead two minutes later, and it seemed the Magicians might add to the lead as they were on the power play applying pressure in the Wilderness end, when it was Billy Exell who stole a pass took it the length of the ice and scored the shorthanded game tying goal with only a minute left in the second period.

In a tough third period but it was the Magicians Laub who beat Ryan Anderson for the game winning goal and the victory. The Wilderness continued to out shoot their opponents, as Wednesday night as the Wilderness finished with 32 shots on goal compared to 24 for the Magicians.

Cole Weaver finished with 29 saves for the Magicians, while Ryan Anderson stopped 20 of the 24 shots he faced Wednesday night. The Wilderness fall to 8-6-1 on the season and are in third place in the Midwest Division, the Magicians improve to 11-6 overall. The Wilderness will be on the road Friday and Saturday as they play the Aberdeen Wings in South Dakota.
