NSO – NEWS RELEASE

After splitting a pair of home games with another nationally-ranked club last weekend, the University of Minnesota Duluth climbed two spots to No. 17 in this week’s USCHO.com poll.

The Bulldogs, who are off to a 4-4-0 overall start this season, held off then No. 10 Miami University 4-3 this past Saturday night after the RedHawks skated off with a 3-2 victory the previous night. UMD is among six NCHC teams to crack the USCHO.com Top 20, joining the University of North Dakota (No. 2), St. Cloud State University (No. 7), the University of Denver (No. 10), Miami (11) and the University of Nebraska Omaha (No. 19).

This represents the Bulldogs’ highest slotting in the USCHO.com since they checked in at No. 16 on Feb. 10, 2014 — the week they also faced St. Cloud State in Duluth.

UMD’s 2014-15 schedule thus far has included games against No. 1 Minnesota (0-1), Denver (1-1), Miami (1-1), No. 13 Minnesota State University-Mankato (1-1) and No. 15 Notre Dame (1-0).  In addition, the Bulldogs’ next three series are against No. 7 St. Cloud State (Nov. 7-8 in St. Cloud, Minn.), No. 1 Minnesota (home-and-home on Nov. 14-15) and No. 19 (Nov. 21-22 in Omaha.
