Barnum Track Teams Having Good Season

The Barnum Bomber boys and girls track teams have been having a good season so far this spring. Kurt Ziebarth and Patty Jerde, the girls and boys track coaches, have been impressed with how their teams and individuals have been performing.

Looking at the girls team, Leah Nordvall has been leading the Bombers in the sprints. In the 100 meter dash her best time is 13.4 and in the 200 meter dash her best time is 27.6.

also competes in the long jump, where she recently had a distance of 15’ 8”. Caitlin Rodgers runs the 400 meter dash with her best time of 1:08. Jenna Zmyslony runs the 1600 with her best at 6:32. Sam Parker runs the 100 and 300 meter hurdles as well as the high jump. The girl’s shot put has Mercedes Adams and Alicia Bonneville battling with both team mates’ personal best just inches apart from one another. In the discus, it is Bonneville and Zmyslony that carry the Bombers.

On the boys side, its Jonah Parrott leading the way in the 100 meter dash, Mikel Nelson and Jeremy Zerwas
in the 200, and Kyle Rodgers
in the 400 meter dash for Barnum. In the 800 meter run, it’s Hans Halverson and Nate Gunnerson. The 1600 meter run has Alex Began. Andrew Youngren & Luke Charlberg both do the high jump. Youngren also competes in the shot put and discus and has been improving every meet. Roy Jobe does the long jump for the Bombers.

The next big meet for the Bombers will be the conference meet next Wednesday in Two Harbors where all of the Polar League schools will participate.
