UMD Announces Baseball Captains

Head coach Bob Rients has announced the University of Minnesota Duluth’s team captains for the 2015 season: senior catcher/pitcher Beau Goff, senior utility man John Meyer, and senior right-handed pitcher Michael Stocke.

Goff appeared in 35 games including 29 starts for the Bulldogs last season after transferring from Madison Area Technical College, posting a .355/.364/.456 batting line. He pitched for the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League in the summer, appearing in five games without allowing a single hit.

Meyer has played in 87 games including 75 starts while positioning all around the diamond including 18 appearances on the mound during the first two seasons of his career. Meyer has a career .289/.377/.421 batting line. The Rochester, Minnesota native is also a two-time NSIC All-Academic Team selection.

The submarining right-hander, Stocke, has led the Bulldog bullpen over the last three seasons. He had a career-low 3.65 ERA last season in 12.1 innings pitched last season. The Hermantown native has a 3-5 career record and 4.68 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched.

“We are excited to announce the selection of these three seniors as captains for the 2014-2015 year,” said Rients. “Each posses different leadership qualities that will serve our team well this season.”
