Wilson Leads MLA In Win Over Hibbing

Shannon Wilson scored a pair of third period goals to help the Moose Lake Area girls hockey team pull out a 3-0 victory over Hibbing/Chisholm on Tuesday night in Hibbing.

After a scoreless first period the Rebels took the lead just 51 seconds into the second period when Erin Mollberg scor4ed with assists to Georgia Ryan and Maggie Unzen. That was all the scoring in the period and the Rebels clung to the 1-0 lead entering the final period. Making matters worse for the Rebels was the fact that they took three penalties in the period allowing the Blue Jackets a chance to even things on the power play, but MLA did a solid job on the penalty kill.

At 4:09 of the third period Wilson scored on the power play with Michaela Anderson and Jackie Granfors assisting to give the Rebels a little breathing room at 2-0. Wilson ended hopes of a comeback for the Blue Jackets with a final goal, with just 45 seconds remaining in regulation, as Granfors and Anderson assisted again making it 3-0.

Dory Johnson made 27 saves on 30 shots for Hibbing/Chisholm, while Moose Lake Area netminder, Kaitlyn Greene, finished with 39 saves in picking up the shutout win.
