Nolan Meyer is probably wondering what happened. Meyer, a senior forward for Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, has suddenly cashed in on some great work by his linemates to the tune of 9 goals in the past two games. After scoring four goals against Buffalo last week, Meyer upped the ante to five goals against Cambridge-Isanti on Tuesday night at home in a 10-3 Jacks win.

It didn’t take long for Meyer, and the Jacks, to get on the scoreboard. Just 44 seconds into the game Justin Hammann and Jack McFarlane, found Meyer on the far side of the Blue Jackets net for a 1-0 lead. Karson Kuhlman made it 2-0 at 1:24, Beau Michaud made it 3-0 at 4:31, Meyer added his second goal at 5:01 and Mark Savage scored a power play tally at 11:22 to give CEC a 5-0 lead after the first period.

As crazy as the first period was the second period got even nuttier as Meyer scored back-to-back goals at 1:57 and 7:17 to make it 7-0. The craziness started at 9:50 of the period when C-I cut the lead to 7-1 on a goal by Josh Klingeisen. That goal seemed to irritate the Jacks who scored just 15 seconds later when Meyer jammed in a pretty pass from the far side. Then at 10:30 it was Ben Michaud with a goal and at 10:48 it was Jordan Locken for the Blue Jackets. CEC closed out the scoring in the period when Savage thumped home another power play goal at 14:40 to make it 10-2 Jacks after the break.

The only goal of the third period was scored by C-I and Brandon Ziebarth at the 10:23 mark.

While Meyer was picking up five goals and notching one assist for a six-point night he was the recipient of some pretty play making by his linemates McFarlane and Ben Michaud. McFarlane finished with five assists and Michaud added a goal and three assists for a four-point evening. Savage also had a strong offensive game with two goals and an assist and freshman Karson Kuhlman recorded one goal and one assist.

Ryan Kedrowski made 15 saves on 18 shots in goal for the Jacks while CEC pumped 46 shots on the Blue Jacket tandem of Knutson and Billy Winselman who came on to replace Knutson in the second period.

The Jacks will play at home on Thursday night against Duluth East.
