Boys Basketball

Hermantown 78 Eveleth-Gilbert 38

The Hermantown Hawks rebounded Thursday night after dropping the opening game of the season to Esko. The Hawks knocked off the Golden Bears by forty points at home. Spencer Johnson and Corey Anderson paced the Hawks with 16 points each in the victory.

Duluth Central 59 Proctor 25

The Duluth Central Trojans won their second straight game to start the season as they knocked off conference rival Proctor at home. Andrew Laughlin led the Trojans in scoring with 13 points in the win at home. The Rails were led by Anders Voss who paced Proctor with 8 points.

Girls Basketball

McGregor 67 AlBrook 53

Abby Hawkinson, Sarah Sample, and Hope Sorenson combined for sixty of the Mercuries 67 points as the Mercuries defeated the Falcons at AlBrook High School. Hawkinson scored 24, Sample 19, and Sorenson 17 points. Kendra Dallmann led the Falcons with 16 points.

Esko 78 Carlton 29

Keely Deadrick scored 20 points, Savanna Trapp added 17, and Lydia Pelletier added 16 points as the Eskomos defeated the Bulldogs in this Polar League battle in Carlton Thursday night. Clarissa Nelson led the Bulldogs with 8 points and Alanna Groth added 7.

ML-WR 65 Wrenshall 9

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels improved to 3-1 on the season as the Rebels defeated the Wrens at home in this Polar League match-up. Maddy Adamczak led the Rebels with 12 points in the win. Natalie Peaney led the Wrens in scoring as she finished with 4 points.

Virginia 65 Proctor 47

Morgan Cunningham scored 21 points to lead all scorers as the Bluedevils defeat the Rails in Proctor Thursday night. Virginia led by 7 at halftime and rolled to the 18 point win. Aubrey Knox led the Rails with 16 points in the sectional loss.
