Hakamaki Scores 5 TD’s In Win

The Cromwell Cardinals were led by Tyler Hakamaki once again on Friday night, as he found the end zone on 5 occasions as the Cardinals pummeled the Floodwood Polar Bears 44-16 to remain unbeaten.

Hakamaki kicked off the scoring for the Cardinals, trucking his way to the end zone on a 65 yard run. Zion Smith converted to give the Cardinals the early 8-0 lead. Floodwood responded in the 2nd quarter when Gage Ruzynski pushed it into the end zone from 2 yards out.

Ruzynski also converted the 2 point conversion to notch it at 8-8. Floodwood would then take the lead when Riley Bernsdorf connected with Willow Christenson from 37 yards out. Jonas Snort converted the 2 points to give them the 16-8 lead in the second half.

Hakamaki wasn’t ready to concede the lead, this time getting into the end zone from a 54 yard run, with Smith converting the 2 points, to tie it at 16-16. Hakamaki would score once more in the half off a 15 yard run. The Cardinals would take the 24-16 lead into half after Hakamaki converted the 2 point.

Hakamaki would continue to rack up the points, plowing into the end zone from 1 yard out and convert the 2 points to give the Cardinals the 32-16 lead. Hakamaki scored his 5th touchdown of the game in the 3rd quarter, another 15 yard scamper, pushing their lead to 38-16. Eli Warpula capped off the scoring for the game in the 4th quarter, finding the end zone from 5 yards out to secure the 44-16 victory for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals improve to 4-0 on the year and will play their rivals, the McGregor Mercuries, on September 26th. The Polar Bears drop to 2-2 on the year and will look to bounce back at home against the Carlton Bulldogs on September 26th.
