Thunder’s Dixon Named Player of the Week

Alton Dixon, freshman forward for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder men’s basketball team, was named Player of the Week in the Northern Division of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference for his performance in games played November 22 through November 27, 2010.


Dixon scored 25 points and had 20 rebounds in a 99 to 83 loss to Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan, on Tuesday, November 23. As of November 29, Dixon is ranked first among the league leaders in rebounding with a 13.3 rebounds per game average. Dixon is also fourth on the list of league leaders in scoring with an 18.7 points per game average.

Dixon, a 6′-6″ forward majoring in Business at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, is from Jacksonville, Florida, where he played for Jean Ribault High School.


Other Thunder players are currently among conference statistical leaders:

– Kolten Karppinen (AlBrook High School) second in three-point shooting average

– Dustin Christjohn (Seymour, WI, High School) fourth in rebounding

– Tyler Campbell (Milwaukee South High School) third in free throw percentage

– Gary Braden (Lakeview High School, Lawrence, LA) fifth in steals per game


The next home game for the Thunder men’s basketball teams is Friday, December 10, against Minnesota West Community College. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m. in the Lester Jack Briggs Cultural Center on campus.


The Thunder are 0-3 for the season to date. The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The conference is comprised of 17 colleges which are divided geographically into Northern and Southern Divisions.
