The northland’s best kept secret this football season may not stay a secret much longer, at least if the Wrenshall Wrens continue to put up gaudy numbers like they did on Friday night in their 56-18 win over Lake of the Woods.  Wrenshall racked up 589 yards in total offense and crushed  Lake of the Woods in picking up their second victory in as many games.
Leading the offensive outburst was Dakota Spry who sprinted his way to 266 rushing yards on just 19 carries.  Spry wasn’t the only Wren to put up massive numbers as Caleb O’Conner carried 13 times for an amazing 175 yards and three rushing touchdowns and another through the air, and quarterback Luke Vine contributed 104 rushing yards while also being effective in passing when the Wrens opted to go that route.
The Wrens gained a 42-12 hafltime lead and then put the game on cruise control in the second half after outscoring LOW 14-0 in the third quarter to go up 56-12 before allowing a late touchdown.
Wrenshall is 2-0 in the Great Northern Conference, while LOW falls to 0-2 both in the conference and on the season.
