The Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall girl’s hockey team built a 3-1 first period lead on Thursday night against Forest Lake, but the Mirage were unable to hang on and the game ended in a 3-3 tie.

Just 31 seconds into the first period Reilly Fawcett gave the Mirage a 1-0 lead with an assist to Sam Nelson. The Mirage went up 2-0 at 2:13 when Justina Lindberg scored on the power play and things looked promising for PHM.

Audrey Hammer cut the PHM gap to 2-1 at 9:16 of the first period, but Lindberg tallied for a second time at 15:08 and the Mirage held a two goal lead coming out of the first period.

The lone goal of the second period was by Forest Lake’s Haley Huberty at 9:28 and it was 3-2 entering the final period in favor of the Mirage.

Hanmer finally tied the game for Forest Lake just 11 seconds into the third period and neither team was able to get on the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Forest Lake narrowly outshot the Mirage 33-32 including a 13-11 shot advantage in the third period and a 6-4 edge in the overtime.
