NSO-NEWS RELEASE

The University of Minnesota Duluth ranks No. 8 in all of NCAA II, according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II National Top 25 poll released today.

The Bulldogs saw their 2013 campaign up-ended by eventual champion and preseason No. 1 Grand Valley State in a 2-1 thriller in the quarterfinals of the NCAA II National Tournament after tying a program record with 17 wins on the year. UMD drops one spot from the postseason ranks released following last year’s tournament, but returns all but four players from last season’s team including ten seniors.

The highest-ranked Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team in the poll, the Bulldogs are joined by No. 15 Minnesota State University, No. 21 Southwest Minnesota State University, and No. 23 Winona State University as representatives of the NSIC. UMD will play host to the Mavericks on Oct. 24, the Mustangs on Oct. 5, and travel to Winona on Sept. 28.
