East Upsets St. Francis

The Duluth East Greyhounds picked up a huge sectional win on Saturday as the Greyhounds the number four seed in the section 7AAA tournament defeated St. Francis 14-3 to advance and face Elk River the number 3 seed in the sectional tournament.

The grey hounds started fast scoring 4 runs in the first inning and added 2 more in the third to take a 5-3 lead they never would look back from.

They added 3 more in the fifth and 5 in the sixth to put the 10-run rule in effect. The Greyhounds were lead by sophomore catcher Willem Aldrich who finished going 3-4 with a double and seven runs batted in.

Frankie Hansen went 4-4 and scored 3 runs, Nick Anderson finished 3-4 as well and he drove in three runs on the day.

Chris Olson pitched 4 innings to earn the victory he struck out 4 and gave up 3 earned runs. Lucas Hedin earned the save in the two innings he pitched.

The Greyhounds will face Elk River Monday and the section champion will be decided on Wednesday back In Anoka.
