Cloquet-Esko-Carlton bowed out of the Section 7AA North Sub-section girls tennis tournament on Tuesday in a 7-0 loss to Hibbing.

The Blue Jackets handled the Lumberjacks with ease and the closest CEC came to a victory was at #2 doubles when Lizz Jezierski and Steph Campbell dropped a 6-3, 6-4 score to Nicole Blagoue and Christina Matetich. Other games in doubles saw the CEC #1 team of Kalie Shevich and Asha Fritsinger lose 6-0, 6-1 to Emily Milani and Mikaela Krampotich and at #3 CEC’s Breanne Baker and Alyssa Acheson fell 6-1, 6-1 to Christine Nyberg and Emily Mickelson.

Things weren’t any better in singles action where the Jacks lost all four matches. Kelsey Collier playing at #1 fell 6-0, 6-0 to Megan Johnson, Savanna Ellena CEC’s #2 player dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Katie McLaughlin, Reilly Kedrowski the #3 singles player for CEC lost 6-0, 6-0 to Lisa Perunovich and at #4 it was CEC’s Michaela Houser losing to Lauren Tromp 6-1, 6-1.

The loss ended a strong season in which the youthful Jacks picked up impressive wins against teams they have struggled against for years. It appears to set the table for next season.
