Local Sports World Loses Coaching Legend

The sports world of northern Minnesota is in mourning today after learning of the death of longtime former Esko football coach Bob Peterson. Peterson passed away yesterday according to family members who contacted Northland Sports Online late yesterday.

Peterson had a long career as coach of the Eskomos and was involved in many charity projects in the area beyond his coaching.

In the fall of 1975 Peterson coached the Eskomos to the Class ‘C’ State Championship in a 62-0 win over Karlstad. The previous year the Eskomos had also gone undefeated, but missed the state playoffs due to a points system.

NSO hopes to have a more in-depth story on Mr. Peterson later today, or tomorrow.
