Hawks top Jacks in Tennis

Hermantown swept all three doubles matches and the Hawks rallied to beat the Cloquet Lumberjacks 4-3 in boys high school tennis on Wednesday afternoon.

Jack Anderson and Gus Peterson, playing at #1 doubles, downed the CEC team of Tim Paczynski and Nick Tomhave 6-3, 6-2 got things started for the Hawks.  At #2 doubles the Hawk’s team of Kori Ochs and Kale Olson beat Lucas Tomhave and Anders Pertler of CEC 6-4, 6-4.

Hermantown finished off the doubles sweep when Aaron Cooke and Jake Johnson defeated Josh Keith and Daniel Stevens 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.

In singles the Lumberjacks took 3-of-4 matches, but Hermantown took the #1 singles win when Joel Gustafson defeated CEC’s Ryan Willgohs 6-2, 7-5.  The Lumberjacks answered with a win at #2 from Rob Sobczak, at #3 from Joey Gotchnik and at #4 from Ben Tomhave.
