Hawks’ Thomas Throws No Hitter In Doubleheader

The Hermantown Hawks softball team has been on a tear as of late and they continued that run as they won 2 on Saturday over Pine City 19-2 and over Mora 8-5.

Breanna Thomas was the winning pitcher over Pine City, throwing a no hitter in 6 innings pitched. She allowed 1 earned run, struck out 6, and walked 5. Hermantown scored 14 runs in the 6th inning which opened the floodgates to the large victory. Al Samberg went 2-3, driving in a run and scoring twice. Keira Salo went 2-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored, and Tess Johnson went 2-3 with 1 RBI and 4 runs scored.

In game 2, Hermantown’s Kylie Hoff recorded the victory, pitching a complete game, allowing 4 runs off 8 hits and fanning 3 batters. Hermantown would come through in the clutch once again as they scored 4 runs in the 7th inning to secure the victory.

Ashley Irwin led the offense going 3-3 with a double, 2 RBI’s, and scoring 3 times. Hoff had a nice hand in on the offensive side as well, going 2-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

The Hawks improve to 8-3 on the year and will play in a double header against Virginia and Hibbing on May 12th and then will play again on May 13th against the Cloquet Lumberjacks.
