There has been a resurgence of sorts for the AlBrook volleyball team this season. That upswing took another big leap on Thursday night when the Falcons defeated Orr 25-21, 25-23, 16-25, 25-27 and 15-13 in a thrilling match.

The Falcons had big numbers from nearly every player on the team including Kortney Karppinen who smashed down 22-kills and picked up 10-digs and she picked up 5-blocks for good measure, in helping to lead her team to the win.

AlBrook also got a big night from their setter, Alyssa Johnson, who was spectacular in running the offense with 29-set assists.

Justice Janke and Kendra Dallmann also helped Karppinen in pounding down 10 and 7 kills respectively. Janke also added 3-ace serves and Dallmann finished with 5 huge blocks at the net.

Mikayla Olesiak was incredible with her back row defense by picking up 14 digs, many of which appeared to be sure points for Orr. Olesiak also had a 100% serving night for the Falcons.

LaShae Brooks and Destinie Villebrun led Orr with 24 and 15 kills respectively.

With the win AlBrook now has seven straight wins including five game matches with both Cook and Orr. Their only loss was in the season opener to Babbitt-Embarrass. The Falcons will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Floodwood to take on the always tough 6-3 Polar Bears.
