Gilbert’s Slam Propels Hawks

Jillayne Gilbert hit a grand slam to propel the Hermantown Hawks to their 3rd victory on the season as they beat the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears 14-3.

The winning pitcher for the Hawks was Courtney Martin who pitched 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Gilbert went 3-3 on the day with a double, the grand slam, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Macy Francisco went 2-2 with a double, home run, 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored and Tess Johnson went 2-3 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 run driven in.

The Hawks improve to 3-2 on the season and will play Ashland on May 8th followed by Esko on May 9th. Both games will be played at home.
