Duluth Marshall topples Hill City in Opener

The Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers played the Hill City Hornets in a softball matchup on Tuesday afternoon. The Hilltoppers would see themselves on the right side of the scoreboard, winning by a large 14-0 margin in a 5 inning game.

The Hilltoppers had a very solid pitching performance from Savannah Russom who also got the win. She pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 10. Emily Watson led the offense with 2 hits and 2 runs batted in.

The Hilltoppers also played yesterday afternoon against the Cherry Tigers, but fell 13-3 in 5 innings.

Duluth Marshall is now 1-1 on the season and hope to play on April 24th against Eveleth Gilbert if the weather and field hold dry.
