Hillary Anderson and Savanah Schramm each scored a goal and Rachel Ofstie made 11 save on 13 shots as the Esko-Carlton girls soccer team tied East Grand Forks 2-2 at Les Knuti Field in Esko on Friday.

Last year’s Section 8 champion Green Wave, who made the 250 mile trip from East Grand Forks to Esko, came in sporting an unbeaten 5-0 record. In the end, after two overtimes, they were handed a tie, the first blemish on their 2010 season record by a young Esko-Carlton team who is starting to come together very nicely.

After playing to a scoreless first half, East Grand Forks opened the scoring just three minutes into the second stanza with a goal from Jaclyn Scanlan in the 43rd minute. The Eskomos answered back when Hillary Anderson scored in the 59th minute with the assist going to Caitlin Lilly to tie the game at 1-1.

The Green Wave regained the lead at 2-1 when Emily Swenson scored in the 71st minute. Once again Esko-Carlton answered back, when with five minutes left in the contest two of the Eskomo seniors stepped up. Savannah Schramm scored the game tying goal in the 75th minute with Kelsey Mudek picking up the assist. Neither team was able to score in two 5-minute overtimes with the 2-2 tie holding up as the final score.

The Eskomos now sport a 2-2-1 record and will host Grand Rapids at 4:00pm on Monday.
