Duluth East Too Strong For Hermantown

Sept 7

After years of dominating local volleyball courts the Hermantown Hawks are struggling in the early going this season. After last night’s 3-0 loss to Duluth East the Hawks have fallen to 1-2 on the season with their win a victory over Duluth Marshall.

Their record does need further explanation however.
The Hawks lost a tough 4 game match last week to a very good Esko team, and that coupled with a 25-18, 25-12, 25-21 loss to class AAA East has them reeling a bit. It won’t get much easier for Hermantown as they will host perennially tough Grand Rapids on Thursday night. The tough competition early on should help the Hawks as the season progresses.

Sadie Kunst proved to be too much to handle at the net as the East hitter powered down 15-kills, while Elena Lushine and Nicole Roseth added 11 and 7 kills respectively.

Andrea Enockson led Hermantown with 15-set assists and Mary Neumann had 5-kills for the Hawks.
