Esko Cross Country Sweeps Babbit Memorial Run

The Esko boys and girls cross country teams showed their early season strength on Thursday by winning their respective divisions of the Babbitt Lions/Gene Ritsche Memorial Run.

The Esko boys finished with 46 points well ahead of the 73 points of runners-up Eveleth-Gilbert

Jackson Lindquist led the way on the boys side with a time of 17:25, while Adam Eskuri and Joey Johnson, also of Esko, finished 6th and 7th respectively.

The Esko girls finished with 38 points while Grand Rapids was second with 56 points.

Marisa Shady narrowly edged Erin Baker of Grand Rapids. Shady ran 12:42 and Baker ran a 12:43. Erika Shady finished 5th, Kailee Kiminski was 7th and Kallyn Knutson was 9th for the Eskomos.
