Wilderness win Weekend Series

The Minnesota Wilderness won two of the three games this weekend over the Coulee Region Chill at Northwoods Credit Union Arena as the Wildness now have secured home ice advantage during the first round of the playoffs.

After dropping the first game of the series on Thursday night 3-2 to the Chill, the Wilderness responded winning Friday night by a score of 3-1, then Saturday again the Wilderness topped the Chill with a 4-1 win.

Thursday Erik Brenk scored both Wilderness goals in the loss to the Chill, Kasimir Kaskisuo stopped 17 of the 20 shots he faced. Friday night it was Frank Oplinger who stopped 23 of 24 shots he faced at the Wilderness picked up the victory.

Alex Fredberg, Jaycob McCombs and Dan Litchke all scored for the Wilderness on Friday night in the 3-1 win, and on Saturday Darian Romanko scored twice, McCombs added his second of the weekend and Brenk added his third as the Wilderness won 4-1.

Kaskisuo stopped 31 of 32 shots put on goal as the Wilderness move to 33-14-9 on the season with a total of 75 points. The Wilderness closes out their regular season at home next Friday night at they will again host the Chill at 7:05
